Card Suggestions

Discover cards similar to ones you already know and love.

How Suggestions Work

Grimoria uses a smart recommendation engine to find cards that share similar gameplay characteristics. When you view a card, the suggestions panel shows alternatives based on:

• Mana cost and color identity — Cards that fit the same slot in your deck
• Card type and abilities — Cards with similar effects and keywords
• Gameplay role — Cards that fill the same strategic purpose (removal, ramp, card draw, etc.)

Budget Alternatives

One of the most powerful features is budget alternatives. For expensive staples, Grimoria suggests cheaper cards that serve a similar purpose. Budget tiers include:

Card Differences

Toggle Show differences on any suggestions view to see color-coded comparison chips between the reference card and each alternative. Differences include:

• CMC — Mana cost difference (green if cheaper, red if more expensive)
• Keywords — Abilities gained or lost (e.g. +Flying, -Trample)
• Power/Toughness — Stat changes
• Price — Cost difference
• Colors, Types, Rarity — Other notable changes

On the Similar Cards page, you can also filter by differences (e.g. "Only cheaper" or "Same or lower CMC") and sort by price savings or CMC reduction.

Where to Find Suggestions

• Similar Cards page — Every card has a dedicated page listing all similar cards (e.g. ). You can reach it from the card detail view.
• Card detail pages — Every card page has a Suggestions tab with top matches
• Deckbuilder — The suggestions panel recommends cards for your deck based on your commander and existing cards
• EDHREC integration — Commander-specific recommendations based on community data

Improving Suggestions

Suggestions improve as you use Grimoria. The more cards you explore and decks you build, the better the engine understands your preferences.
